You know I really wonder if Jerry Yang eats his own shit.
No, seriously.
Does he really use Yahoo?
Because if he did, he might realize how much it SUCKS.
Yahoo's front page is incredibly annoying. They really need to nuke it and start all over. So I decided to give My Yahoo a try. Well, guess what? It's virtually the same damn thing!
Sure, My Yahoo allows you to customize the types of content, but the way the layout is setup just plain sucks! For instance, the six boxes. Oh my god, what idiot designer came up with this? Did they outsource it to a 5th world country? It is the most annoying feature. And you can't even customize the content on that. Why bother with that stupid box that opens and closes when you hover over it? I mean, if you really want to see your email, why not just setup an RSS feed that broadcast real time whenever there's changes? You don't need that ugly UI. Hasn't anyone at Yahoo realized how annoying that is? It's about as bad as the blink tag.
I think there shouldn't even be a My Yahoo page. When the user arrives, the page should be ready to be customized a la Pageflakes or Netvibes. Compare what Yahoo does to Google. Google emphasizes their search box, even though they have iGoogle, which demonstrates that their focus is on search. Yahoo's front page is just a clumsy mess. The fact that it looks like Kmart instead of an island of zen tells me a lot about how the company operates.
It makes you wonder if Jerry Yang makes any technical decisions anymore or if he just delegates twenty levels below and doesn't even bother to view the results. I mean, if it were me, I'd be yelling at everyone daily to fix that damn homepage. It's progressively gotten uglier over the years and less useable. If there's anything useful on it, I certainly don't know about it because it's impossible to find.
Hey Jerry and Yahoo: I'm free if you want someone who actually has passion and understands how to run a company like that (or at least make the good decisions).
