Suggestions for the American People

The more I think about this issue of the financial collapse, the more I realize that there is a very simple way to punish those on top: use cash exclusively.

America's biggest problem is that economically it's a debt based society.  I don't know where or when this came about (an excellent research topic btw), but it's the Achilles' Heel of America.

At the basis, the problem is that people want things now but don't want to deal with the problems now because they can't afford something.  So they take loans out to get what they want now.  However, most people have poor judgment in managing their own expectations and cannot get away from withdrawing their plastic from their wallet like a nicotine addict's need to take a puff outside.

Unfortunately, the way things are structured in America is that you need a credit rating to get the really big items.  In other words, you're forced into debt one way or another.

Normally, this is standard practice.  Someone hedges some risk on you in the assumption that one day, you'll be able to pull yourself out.

However, these days, everyone is at high risk.  There is no such thing as a stable job any longer.  There is no such thing as a stable industry any longer.  So how do you manage?

I still say having humble expectations, using cash on you allows you to stick it to the man.  Banks in and of themselves are necessary.  I mean, where else are you going to store your money these days securely?  But all the other financial instruments out there are inherently untrustworthy because they're created by a group of tightly knitted people that you aren't a part of.

Avoiding loans, credit cards and any form of debt in my opinion is the only way to live.  In this manner, you loosen your ties to anything or anyone.

If you look at the economy, the biggest problem of the current financial crisis is the sheer complexity of it.  All the little dependencies have left the nation unable to cope because there's no easy way to trace it down to a single issue.  In other words, it's all interwoven and interdependent.  The minute you take one thing out of the equation, the rest of the system falls.

But you can't worry about other people in this world, especially the financial fucks.  The only person you got to worry about is yourself.  So start by just taking your cash reserves and using that exclusively.  Stop looking at your credit card to spend for anything.  If you couldn't afford it before, you can't afford it now.  Forget the credit ratings thing either.  Do you really want to get into more debt that might get aggrandized?  It's bad enough that the government taxes you so that you can simply bail out these fuckers with even more money that they don't deserve.

The thing that you really want is at minimum a 0 balance.  Yes, zero.  You can have credit, but you want to make sure you're never negative.  Negative means you owe someone something.  You've got enough problems in your life.  Why would you want someone else depend on you when you're flatly stating you're a flake for not having something immediately?

That's reality kids.  The lifestyle of the rich and famous on MTV, shut it off.  In reality, you're nothing more than poor, stupid, fat, out of shape, nothings that never deserved more than Taco Bell in the first place.
