HP Printers Suck But Ubuntu Is Still Cool

Once again my wonderful little HP printer in my living room failed me.  It's one of those combo printers with the scanning/copying feature included.  Had some issues with the paper feed.  It seems that anything above three pages causes the printer to not detect the paper for some odd reason.  Or if you jam too many pages in, then the printer will swallow them whole.  Very frustrating.

What was a nice surprise was that my little Ubuntu Netbook detected my HP printer with no hassle.  No need for drivers nor anything.  Same with the simple scan application.  Very cool.  I like not having to wonder where my CD/DVD install disks are.  Heck, I didn't even have to use Synaptic except to download xpdf (my favorite pdf reader on Linux).

Going back to printers, I think if I ever bother getting another printer, I'll try Epson next time.  I forget the printer I had in Japan though.  I remember destroying one after it drove me crazy.  It might've been HP.
