There Is NO Freedom of Speech in America

If the founding fathers came to see what has become of America, you'd wonder what their response is.  If they were, indeed, honorable and believed in what they wrote in the Constitution, I think they'd puke and go back to England.  It's funny how people in America celebrate freedom of speech, or say we'd like to trick ourselves into believing.  People think that I have a ton of balls for writing what I do.  It's not that I have a ton of balls; it's that I believe in free speech.  But then I realize it's not that I have a ton of balls, it's that people are afraid of saying what's right.  If people are afraid of saying what's right, then what's the point of freedom of speech?

So I came to the conclusion that ultimately America does NOT have true free speech.  Instead, we pay for privileges to be able to do things.  That's the only freedom of expression we have and the recent court decisions to allow corporations to donate unlimited funds as an expression of free speech clearly illustrates this point.  But let's look closely at how this is NOT the case:

  • In school (particularly primary education), you are taught to conform.  You are NOT taught to criticize the teacher, no matter how illogical they are.
  • To socialize, you must conform to the social group you belong to.  That means typically participating in material aspects, which limits your freedom.  In fact, most people do not typically move between groups.  They stick to one, like a pack of wolves.
  • We use euphemisms to say what we really mean.  In 1984, Orwell came up with the terms Double-Speak and Duck-Speak.  But America has further eroded meaning by carefully selecting metaphors, idioms, etc. to soften up ideas.
  • We are taught that equality is high most in importance but we cannot criticize each other in a blunt manner.  Any word should be fair game, except those without meaning.  If we repress words, then we limits our freedoms and become an intolerant society just as one of South Park's episodes had demonstrated.
  • We are taught not to blog and more importantly to cover up our identities on the net for fear of our employment.  So that demonstrates that once we are inside a corporation, we no longer are protected by the jurisdictions of the Constitution.  Instead, the corporations (which "own" us as "assets") now take ownership of our private lives as well and can dictate beyond the borders of the Constitution.  So in short, the very issues we attempted to escape from in England now have surfaced again in more horridly oppressive and hypocritical formats.
  • Even on American soil, we lose our rights.  For instance, airports basically are their own countries for all intents and purposes.  You essentially give up all rights the minute you step into an airport and onto a plane.  You cannot tell a TSA agent that they're a fuckhead and can't do a nickel job correct, even when it's the appropriate thing to do.  But because they bears arms and can toss you in jail, they possess all the rights and freedoms to dictate to you.
  • TV has long been known for censorship.  Censorship is just stupid.  Funny thing is that you can see a horribly bloody corpse on TV, but someone can't even say fuck or show their tits.  Also, it's perfectly okay for these networks to have ultra-violent shows with cops constantly bashing the pre-determined "bad" guys and winning, but none of them through their violent expose can say "fuck."  It's not even realistic.  So if anything, TV teaches us to lie about what we are and the only thing that can be okayed is what a few elites in society propose.
  • We are not allowed to vote on every single issue that gets passed through Congress, the Senate and whatever.  Again, elites in society do the work.  The only thing we can do is vote for a represent that we have to trust can make an appropriate decision (which they don't).
  • People cannot speed in America.  Isn't speeding an expression?
  • How about freedom of healthy food?  Ever notice that there are so many limited choices when it comes to this aspect.  To get quality food, you have to travel or pay a lot of money.  Otherwise, if you're lucky you can cook.  But I think that healthy food isn't produced for the masses to keep people inert.  But that's a different conspiracy.
Anyway, I can go on.  But instead, I want to show an irony.  Do you know where I found true freedom of speech?  In Japan.  Why?  Because no one understood me.  I could cuss my heart out and no one gave a shit.  In fact, anytime you enter a country where English isn't the native language (or where your native language isn't the primary one spoken), you actually have true freedom of speech in a very literal sense.  In fact, I can blog whatever I want without fear of reprocussion in Japan because no one understands me there.  How ironic.
