Had my first real tanking expose today. I was bored, didn't want to use my hunter and decided to try and level up my warrior to 20. Went to Sepulcher and found an undead priest who gave me a nice little stamina buff. Thanked the priest and we got into a little conversation where I offered to help the guy. So he was like, "Are you a tank?" I responded, "No fury." He then stated, "No, you're a TANK!" So I'm like, well okay. Anyway, I thought we would just do a few little quests here and there, but he hit the "randoms" (i.e. dungeons) and we grabbed a nice little group. Being a n00b, I figured, I'll just run and hit things and hope they all attack me. All I can say is that it's definitely a different experience than running solo. I think I've been spoiled by friends who run me through instances. But I tried to be sensitive to others, knowing that I have little experience. The other guys were really cool and tried to help me around, giving me advice.
Fortunately, I was the highest level guy around with decent equipment so I could absorb damage better (which is what a warrior does). It worked out well for me as I just ended up being massively confused and just trying to make sure everyone was hitting on me (wish I could do that at bars!) Still no one died surprisingly and I did my best. Hit the little thunder clap, charge, rage, taunt, etc. Did some defensive stance. I was reading how Rage Fire Chasm is where you start to learn your roles. Well, I was at a good level to start learning and made it through three times without anyone dying.
Gotta say it was a fun learning experience. Nice group, people were cool, I'd love to play with these guys again sometime. Guess in the meantime, I need to study up more on being a tank ;)
