Eric Bischoff vs Jim Cornette

Apparently, there's an online war going on between Eric Bischoff and Jim Cornette over a recent spewing by Cornette after he "lost his friend in the industry" (i.e. Terry Taylor).  Reading the words between these two and seeing the responses by the fans and asking both sides to be more mature is impossible.  These people are in pro-wrestling, the lowest of the low, the garbage that people pretend not to like when they're hiding in a corner secretly watching while their tough hombres ask them to partake in Monday Night Football.  The people in pro-wrestling have the mental maturity of a daycare center.  Not just the fans, but virtually everyone involved.  That's why it's become such a farce.  The very essence of pro-wrestling is the old "meet me out in the parking lot" high school fight.  So the only difference here is that you have two more visible people sparing.

As far as which side I will take, I think both have their points.  Jim is wrong because he made outrageous statements and published them on his blog.  I don't think he's aware that freedom of speech does NOT exist in the US anymore, since that whole system is owned by a cadre of lawyers and politicians.  However, his statements on Russo, Hogan and Bischoff are pretty spot on.  Personally, the whole "I hope to see him murdered" statement was just Jim Cornette emphasizing with tongue firmly in cheek over him "wanting to fuck with whatever promotion Russo is a part of."  Now, Russo's response of fearing for his life is either that he's extremely stupid (which I'm leaning towards) or that he's a big crybaby (which I'm leaning towards).  Either way, I think Cornette gained points for sentiment and having enough balls to say what most people inherently are thinking, but too cowardly for speaking their mind.

Now, Bischoff is wrong too in the sense that he's someone who should be exceptionally careful on his statements.  Of course, that's his MO (controversy and money going hand in hand).  Being employed has consequences and does not allow the liberty of people to freely express themselves (for the above fact that the lawyers and politicians own speech).  So he should be a slight bit smarter on that.  And he should be more careful on the whole statement of producing TV.  Certainly, Bischoff works in TV, but knowing how to produce good TV is a different issue.  More than though, Bischoff works for a pro-wrestling company.  Unless they've explicitly decided to change direction and focus exclusively on producing a TV product as opposed to producing a pro-wrestling product, then he shouldn't say a word here.  Not to mention that since coming in, the Hogan-Bischoff regime has produce poor ratings consistenly except for their debut (which imo was a mere novelty and got most people turned off once people realized it was the same old cliche).

But Bischoff does have a point in that Cornette should move on.  I don't see why Cornette gets so upset about things.  Having passion is great.  Letting it make you go mad in the process is a different story.  I don't think money is the issue as Cornette is attempting to rationalize.  Fuming like this only will feed ammo to the lawyers when the day comes for a civil trial.  Cornette has to be really careful about what he says (as does Bischoff).  Note how goold 'ol JR is politically correct in his responses.  That's how you have to play it in this world, unless you want to be unemployed.

Honestly, if both sides had two brain cells, the best thing would be to escalate this verbal war into something huge.  Because there's a real issue there and people have strong feelings for both sides.  Have ROH go against TNA.  Let people for once believe that there's a real issue in pro-wrestling.  Don't waste money on the lawyers, spend it on the arenas, the promotions, the TV packages, etc.  Do something to help the fucking industry from this boring slump.  The biggest problem in pro-wrestling is that everyone knows it's rigged.  This is real.  Do something with it.  Be productive rather than de-constructive.

However, more than likely, everything will be settled by the lawyers rather than allowing fans to show their true support on the sentiment and allowing everyone in the business to do better by producing better (real) television and making some money off of strong opinions.  That's the tragedy of all this.
