World of Warcraft: It's All About Instances

When I hit the late 30's with my hunter, I found myself a bit frustrated in figuring out where to go next.  I ended up in Desolace since it was the next logical step after Thousand Needles.  The area turned out to be a bit painful because quests were spread out with varying levels.  So I ended up bouncing between that spot, Stranglethorn Vale and Arathi Highlands.  Stranglethorn was particularly frustrating because of the level disparity and the numerous allies out there.  Kinda hard to complete quests when you're getting ganked.  Fortunately, I was able to grind out to 40 to grab the faster mount.  Even then, it was frustrating since I had to do things solo on a PvP server.  However, just before I had met this priest who kept doing instances.  Within a few weeks he already had exceeded my hunter!  So I realized that was the way to go (not to mention that a guide advocated this methodology).

Well, last week until a few days ago, I just kept queing my hunter for random dungeons.  And what do you know?  Level 50 within two weeks!  Not to mention far better gear than I can make and some nice achievements to boot.  Made a friend warrior as well.

The story here is that I think the dungeon finder is the key to leveling up quickly.  Quest grinding is okay for up to level 20.  After that, you really should hit the instances since you'll have better equipment and get plenty of experience with those instances.  And it gives you practice for playing with really odd people.  I could swear that there were some 9 year olds by their diction.  In those cases, I just kept my mouth shut, let them lead, did enough to get through, picked up the little parting gift bag and maybe a few nice drops along the way.

I have to say that I'm really liking my hunter now he's at a higher level with far better gear.  Much better than questing.  I think one of the funnier situations was that I was in a party with three hunters.  No kidding!  What are the odds?  It would've made for an interesting raid group, but not a lot of variety in that.  Another major positive is that I got so much stuff on these runs.  Usually, cloth, greens and for some instances skins.  Like Sunken Temple is definitely a favorite of mine because I've been able to grab a ton of dragon scale and tough/rugged leather.  As a skinner/leatherworker, I need huge stacks of this stuff.

I think before it must've been pretty tough not having this feature.  Without having a steady party, doing instances would be impossible.

Beyond that, I can safely say that the only instance I dislike at this point is Gnomeregan.  Perhaps, it was the party I was in because we wiped.  I think the pally got realy pissed when the hunter knew what he was doing.  So she ditched us and we ended up wiping without a primary tank.  The other one that is kinda nasty is the Orange side of Mauradon.  The green slimes with their poison is pretty nasty.  Also, if you wipe in that instance, getting back is horrible.  The walk is confusing and REALLY long.

So what's next for this guy?  Well, obviously the big 6-0 is coming up.  That might take another good week to hit with dedicated playing.  But I kinda want to enjoy his current level.  Definitely, he can explore quite a few of the zones now.  Too many incomplete quests and I missed most opportunities to get to the instances themselves by using the randoms.
