World of Warcraft: Enhancement Shaman Madness!

I played an enhancement shaman before on my old server and managed to level him up to 68. I did like the enhancement spec back then and really liked my shaman. However, I didn't want to spend money doing a character transfer. So I started a new shaman a few weeks ago (just before I started leveling my warlock). The one thing I have to say is that enhancement shaman's kick MAJOR booty!

Blizzard has certainly made the enhancement shaman a force in Cataclysm. For the most part as I was leveling my guy, I found him 1-2 shotting mobs. You've got an arsenal of damage delivering capabilities and things that make you mana efficient. Prior to Cataclysm, mana had been trouble for enhancement shamans because the focus was on agility and stamina for gear. However, the way the talent tree was designed, there was nothing to boost your mana outside of intelligence and no methods outside of mana totems and Water Globes to keep your mana up, at least until you got to Stormstrike (which was around level 40) With Cataclysm, you "naturally" regenerate mana when you do damage. Also, your spec cuts out the amount of mana used via spells. As a result, I can easily plop down all four of my totems without fear of being completely drained of mana. Before, I would only use 2-3 per fight, except for large mobs or boss fights. That made me near dead last in terms of DPS ranking.

I'm certain if I started doing instances with my shammy, he could potentially place at the top with all the different forms of damage capabilities at my disposal. I no longer have to fear about being depleted of mana during combat or waiting for my Stormstrike ability to recover from cooldown to regain mana. The only thing I really miss about the old spec was being in my 50's and having the ability to cast instant lightning bolts (or healing spells) from Maelstrom Weapon. Now, you have to be in your mid 60's to get back that ability (which is awesome).

I really hope that Blizzard doesn't nerf the enhancement shaman spec. I've been having an absolute blast with this class. It definitely is a fun class to level with. For beginning players, I would heavily recommend the shaman. Now, certainly the shaman doesn't seem as cool as a paladin, but it's a really well rounded class that I find to be efficient.  I did purchase dual spec for my shaman and intend to eventually try the elemental spec, but I don't have a lot of gear for that side.

On a side note, I did create a new blood elf mage. I want to try the new frost spec since frost mages now receive a pet. Previously, my old foresaken mage didn't get very far (I think level 32 or so). My main motivation for having a mage though is to create portals for money. At this point, I've pretty much covered all the professions on my toons minus engineering (which isn't necessary now and something I intend to give my hunter), so there's not a lot of incentive for me to make many more toons outside of just playing each.
